TIME TO PLAY
Autumn and Christmas time is game time. Since your time is precious, and ours isn't really worth that much, we have tested a couple of newly launched games, a soon to be released pre party winner, and a good old classic just for you.
Ring of Fire:
In a short while Ring of Fire will be launched. It's a game that promises to give you no winners just losers, and similar to other drinking games, the point is to get your friends as drunk as possible. This is partly what life is about at FHM as well, so we sat down and had a talk with the creator Adam MacDonald to test the game before it gets launched.
"You're not aloud to Swear, Point or Go to the Toilet and if you're sitting down to play you're sitting down to play," says MacDonald. He's FHM own favourite bartender and alcohol expert and he's won the world championship in drink mixing. So if there's someone who knows how to get people drunk, it's him. "This is an ice breaker on a pre-party, preferably with a couple of girls you don't know. Two or three rounds of this and you're in the perfect mood" he says.
We begin the game and Stein-Havard points at Mats with both hands and tells him to start. "You're pointing and with two hands, that is two sips of your beer as punishment" Adam says. "Shit" says Stien-Havard. "That's another one" says MacDonald. Two seconds later Thomas has pointed and followed up with a double swear, which leads to 3 gulps of beer. 'The great thing about this is that during the game you can pick one of your fellow players and gang up on him" Adam says. That is because a big part of the deck is Home and Away cards, where the Home card means that you take the number of sips that is on the card, and the Away card means that you can choose for someone else to drink. "Five sips and an Away card, Mats if you would?" says Stein-Havard. "3 sips Away, Mats if you would again" says Thomas. "Screw you, you fucking pussy's" Mats argues which leads to three more sips, and on it goes.
Some of the cards are Category Cards which means you pick a subject and you say a word that is connected to that subject. It goes around the table and who ever can't come up with something to say has to take a sip. One of the other cards gives you the opportunity to ask someone a question that has to be answered with a question, and if you don't, you have to take another sip. One card is the Thumbs Down card. The last one to put their thumb on the table, takes a sip. And so on and so on.
All together there is a lot of beer to be drunk. The loser however is the one who finds the 4th Ring of Fire Card because he has to take the final shot of something strong, waiting in the shooter glass in the middle of the board. "And there you go, that's the 4th card, Mats, please drink" says Adam. Mats downs the losers shot. "Let's go again" says Thomas, Stein-Havard and Mats in union. You can be one of the first ones to get this game, go to www.yourdrinkinggame.com to register your interest.
The verdict: Suitable for, anyone who likes drinking, board games and fighting in a friendly environment.
Not Suitable for: Anyone who has broken their index finger or who is suffering from Tourette's syndrome.

DrinkStuff.com becomes the first Web Based Shop in the UK to stock Ring of Fire on their shelves. The game is expanding far and wide, and now, UK University students are able to buy the game, play the game and struggle to pass their exams because of it!!
We are glad to have DrinkStuff.com on board...
They Drink In Iceland Too!!
November 15 2007
On a recent trip to Iceland, for some much needed "R and R", Adam was happy to see, and experience the drinking culture of Iceland. Discovering that it is just as expensive to drink there as other Scandinavian countries, the opportunity bell started to ring loud and clear. Pre-parties is where most Icelandic folk do the majority of their social drinking!
Taking the bull by the horns, Adam marched down to the local Reykjavik shopping mall (Kringlan) and proceeded to hunt for a shop that would be suitable for Ring of Fire. After only 5 minutes the hunt was over. Walking into the store "Byggt og Buid" Adam was able to set up a sales meeting for the next day.
Business was discussed, the game was played and a deal was struck. Just like that, Iceland went onto the Ring of Fire Map and the shop has since sold 100s of games to thirsty locals.
Just In Time For Christmas
December 2007
In its first year, Ring of Fire experienced massive sales growth just before Christmas. "I'm delighted to think that there will be many many people opening up my game this Christmas. We got the game into the major stores here in Norway just in time for December and I will never forget walking into one of the book stores and seeing it on the shelf for the first time, right inbetween the big 2, Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit".
The Norli Book Store, along with many other smaller boutique outlets, have taken the game nation wide.
ROF set for the USA 2009
In recent developments, Adam was able to sign a deal that will see our beloved game being played all over the United States. Making contact with Jay Vehro from INI,LLC; Adam put in motion a joint venture partnership between Working Mixer AS and INI. Jay Vohra's very own game of "I've Never..." has been a huge success in the States and beyond. "Buy joining forces with Jay, we've opend up the mother load of all markets, the USA. Jay is just like me in that he's created a game and made it real with no prior experience, just a 'can do' attitude. He's about 3-4 years ahead of me and has proven his methods to be a success."
We're delighted that the two gaming entrepreneurs have joined forces to see the expansion of Ring of Fire go deep into the US.
Look out college students, drinking games are on the rise.

C.S.I. Find Thumbs Down Card
Oslo, Norway. 20th June 07
Last week, a man (who shall remain nameless), had his appartment raided by two robbers. The careless house invaders took everything from his Digital Camera, to all of his Cologne and Deoderants. They even stopped to open up his brand new game of Ring of Fire. This proved to be their fatal move. Upon opening the box, they stupidly decided that they didn't really want to steal it.
I say "stupidly", because the box has a special wax coating on it to protect it from the environment. Their inspection of the game, left big fat juicey finger prints all over the box. Oslo Police now have the game and have recieved some of the best thumbs prints off the box ever! Just another way, Ring of Fire is helping the community.
